Hello and welcome.
© Fergus the Scottish Uber-Colourist
I am Fergus, Fergus the Scottish Uber-Colourist,
painting in Scotland and with a Scottish palette.
The land has been deeply-scarred by glaciers, tumbling boulders and ancient rivers and I
constantly include such brutality in my work.
It has taken me a very long time to get here and I am constantly inspired by Scotland as I
work all over the country and see whole paintings in an instant.
From the promise in Spring and fields of Fife to the decay of Autumn and dark, brooding
Highland moonscapes, there are riches to be distributed.
Being almost colour-blind, I paint as brightly as my limited spectrum allows, knowing the
effect will be amplified for those with normal colour perception.
It might actually be an advantage to me.
Each piece begins with the building of rugged terrain before I apply paint and I prime it
all to make it robust.
Most of my work is on board as the very physical nature of my way of working is too
damaging for stretched canvas.
I work with acrylics.
I work fast.
I trust my judgement.
Frames can be provided and much of my work is in hardwoods, my own preference being
oak but unframed work is also available.
I exhibit in both solo and group gallery shows but I also provide work in industrial
settings, offices, schools and hospitals.
You may also buy from me directly and my studio is a welcoming place in Central Fife.
Commissions can be undertaken in all sizes and very large work, perhaps for corporate
settings, is available.
Like most artists, I am always seeking new opportunities to exhibit so DO get in touch if
you have a blank wall.
These are not good times for the arts but art enlivens us and what might seem like
straightforward work by me has much more to offer on closer inspection.
I paint for myself really but luckily other people like it too!
My prices are between £200 and £500, keeping the work affordable for most people.
I am a prolific artist and my Facebook page is kept up to date with new work, exhibitions
and art projects that I get involved in.
Please stay for a while and enjoy my work, work that I enjoyed
creating and I hope that you enjoy it too.
Fergus
